Re: A Rational Love of Luton
The town itself is a pretty grim and mean place but they are going to build their new football ground bang in the centre of the town thus improving it by 100% supporting their local businesses and sticking two fingers up to the completely shit American economic model of sticking a stadium in the middle of nowhere off a motorway junction that benefits nobody.

Another reason to like what they are doing up there...

The cup quarter final defeat was right up there for me as probably the most gutted I've been at a match.
Chelsea at Wembley awaited in the semi final!

Quite an enjoyable read that book and I think he wrote a follow up which i bought.

To many memories of them beating us at home in league cup semis with that headbanded thug Foster, Harford & co.
I think they had a plastic pitch in those days so the away legs were always gonna be tough enough without getting battered at home.

One thing i didnt realise until recently is the absolute hatred between them and QPR.

Ex girlfriend's mates were all Luton supporters, they all seemed to hate West ham for some reason and let me know it, hated them ever since!

Re: A Rational Love of Luton
Shithole of a town but dont hate it as some do. I lived just outside Luton for 12 years and my kids were born there. My grandkids live in Dunstable and I still have mates who have stayed loyal to the club even in their non league days.

Awful fucking place. had to get a taxi home one time after a night game as me mate got nicked during the game, and by the time he got out the ob shop the last train had already left.

I went there late 80's i think, i'm sure it was 3-3 and Alvin got a last minute equaliser. The electronic scoreboard had about 3 letters of SWINDLEHURST not working.

I lost my hat on the way to the ground for that cup game,I was quite pissed.

Found on a fence on the way back. Theresa reason they are called the hatters .

Re: A Rational Love of Luton
Remember going there in the 80s . West Ham "took" the home end with a fantastic pincer movement.
Ended up watching the match sat against the advertising hoarding near the halfway line about 3 feet from the pitch.
Would never happen now .

A good mate supports them so I've got a soft spot for them. Battled their way back up the leagues after various catastrophes and are a 'proper' Club.

Leaving Kenilworth Road in a couple of years so a couple of us are going to make a point of visiting as it's a unique place.
